The problem is probably you neglected to oil it previously, so once it starts corroding it's hard to make it look like new again. What are you wiping it down and oiling it with?

Have you tried oil and some steel wool?

steel wool followed up with froglube. Better yet would be having it cleaned and reblued.

I'd try some Corrosion X in the red can.

0000 steel wool, with wd40, then remove that with brake cleaner, then wipe it down with heavy oil, or polish it with flitz

Although I haven't tried it, I keep hearing that Johnsons Paste Wax is better than oil

Don't use steel wool. The guys that do restoration use a cleaning product called "Frontier Big 45" and oil. It is a non metallic cleaning pad. Steel wool will remove the blueing.

Steel wool will take off all the bluing and the rust. Froglube is garbage, turns to slime if left in storage. The bluing was probably too thin to begin with. Rebluing is the only long term fix, besides constant upkeep and monitoring.

Get the rust off then buy you some Rusteprufe it comes in a small glass jar. It's just a soft pad with and you can buy the liquid to put in the jar to recondition the pad.

I agree frog lube is junk.
