    How to catch the biggun'?

A buddy of mine has a great stocked tank with some great fish in it. Its been stocked twice now with florida hybrids and its been over 5 years so we know for sure there are some good ones in the 6-8 lbs range plus there was already some fish in the 5 lbs range before they stocked it. In 5 years the biggest we have caught has been 5 lbs maybe 6 lbs. Were not pros but we know how to fish. We throw all sorts of top waters mainly weedless because this pond is chalk full of grass and hydrilla and all sorts of jigs and worms. I mainly catch all my fish on a senko whether im letting it fall slowly or working it on top like a stick. The only thing we have not tried is pitching in all the grass because we don't have the gear for it and it is quite expensive to get the proper gear for flipping. So, what are your suggestions for targeting bigger fish?

I don't know if bluegill would but we just did shiners and goldfish about two weeks ago and the pond is so thick that the shiners and goldfish would immediately high tail it for the grass, so if they weren't hit before that, then they were safe.

Is it possible the tank is over populated causing the fish not to grow.

After dark, a big, black jitterbug, especially when the moon is bright.

big fish eat BIG baits, go find the biggest black power worm you can, then put it down and find a bigger one. Trust me!

No it is the opposite, the fish have way too much to eat such as crawfish, perch, minnows, etc.. They don't have to hit what we throw because they have so much already. I am liking this dark and night time idea.

Unless everything is just so, pond bass don't get too big. Something to consider

How many acres is the tank?
How many bass have they taken out in the 5 years? Have they restocked bait every year?

Next year try sight fishing during the spawn.

You more or less just described a over populated tank. You really have to control the amount of fish in the tank in order for them to grow. It's kind like putting a 6lb bass in a small aquarium, I don't care how much you feed him he's not going to grow. This is why some tanks don't have any big fish in them.

We had a pond we used to fish, the best bait there was to catch about an 8"er, let fight around the edge of the grass for awhile, one of bigger ones will notice and come grab him pretty quick.
