    Using a Scent Rag

Anyone have any experience/success using a scent/drag rag with doe strus? I am starting to see bucks in our pasture folloing the scent of does but not coming close enough to my stand. Will a scent rag bring them in? Going back out Thursday morning to give it a try.

My exp. wasn't with doe scent. But I did have a fox dam near jump in a ground blind with me when I used fox urine as a drag scent.

I like to use a scent drag and sometimes I will tie one to my boot and drag it in as I walk into my setup. Make sure that your boots are scent free as possible of course. I also read one time that you can take a small kids fishing pole (like a Mickey Mouse one) and tie it the end with a weight. You then throw the scent drag and reel it back to you. This allows you to have a scent drag while keeping the area as scent free as possible from your scent.

Sounds like a good plan! But I snag enough timber when I am on the water, I could only imagine what I would do in the woods!! LOL

Used them and they have work several times. Make sure that you are walking in up wind and make a large 1/2 circle going to your blind. Take it off and hang in a tree before you get in you stand.

I should not have a problem getting into the stand. It is in a pretty open field and the deer come out of the woods around daylight. I am usually in 45-60 minutes early just to make sure I beat them there.

Any tips on making a drag rag?

Use some good Parachute cord "550 cord", and an old cotton T shirt cut into a small strip 2"x4". The 550 cord is very strong and does not snag on brush. The T shirt just need to be clean from all your odor. All you need is a few drops of Tink's and tie it to your back pack. They will follow it like a sidewalk, so watch out.
