Anyone using the new 2016 cams? How do you like them and what package are you using?

I am currently running 3. Much easier setup! App has a few kinks that they are working out. Liking everything so far since they have fixed the issues I did have. Dudes will suck down batteries though. I put 12 fresh batteries in last Saturday and I was already at 60% this morning with it taking about 20 pictures a day. I don't remember what package I set up for them. I think it was the 14.99 package, but only because I will be storing them at the beginning of May until August.

Thanks Andy That's terrible battery usage!!! I get 150-175 pics a day that's not good at all. Are you required to have the app or can it still text your phone?

App is required. You don't even put in a phone number anymore. It is all an online login. I have an older covert out that is texting me pictures. It has been out for 3 weeks and taken a bunch of pictures. I think it is at 80% now. The new cameras are horrible with battery usage. I do send it commands 1-2 times per day, but it still shouldn't suck battery life like that.

You don't have "real time" control on do you?

I do! Is that what is draining them?

              Yep!

When real time is "on" the camera is on/awake looking for commands all the time. It's a cool feature, but a battery killer.

With it off, when you send a command to the camera, it will basically sit in a "queue" on the server. The next time the camera takes a picture and transmits it, will receive & execute the command.

I take it you don't have it on a solar panel?

I have a 2016 covert and batteries only lasted 12 days. I don't have it set to real time I have it at 24 delay. Not liking the battery life at all.

Not right now. With all of our flooding, I have had to constantly move cameras and didn't want to deal with setting to panels up. When I put them back out for deer season, they will be on panels then.
