    Is it time???

    Hey GS:

I've seen many times on here when people have to say goodbye to pets. I'm wondering if it's my time to say "so long" to my oldest pup.

My wife and I obtained "Buddy" when we fostered him from our local shelter right after we were married. He was so dang cute, we just went ahead and adopted him. He was the first "grand-dog" before we had our oldest daughter.

That was 12 years ago. He has a lot of snow on the rooftop now and isn't nearly as spry as he once was.

Yesterday I noticed that he was sleeping more than usual and he was shaking as if he was cold (it's 75 in my house). He hasn't eaten or drank anything in about two days. His eyes are almost telling me that he is hurting. He doesn't yelp or whimper when I pick him up, but he shakes almost uncontrollably. He also hasn't gone outside to use the bathroom either.

I just had him at the vet's office and he got a clean bill of health (along with a $400.00 bill!).

Given ya'lls experiences, does this sound like his time is coming to a close? I'm trying to evaluate a trip to the vet or not. I don't want him to suffer, but I cannot afford a large vet bill at this point, especially after the last vet bill I just paid.

    What say ye?

You will be the only one to know when it is time.

We all felt it about a 2 months before Lucky passed!!

Hard call to have to make

I am thinking a good vet could tell you pretty quick and without much more cost than the fee to put him down if that is what is needed

It is always different for every pet and every owner. You will know in your heart when it is time. If there is a question give the pet the benefit of more time.
