    Being Cheap

Am I the only one? Surely not! Who else out there is a tight wad. If you post in the Deal Threads, you are!!!

Here are a few examples of me being cheap.

I have wanted to get my son a power wheels for a while. A friend of ours had a son that had outgrown his probably a year ago. They had it in a garage sell and posted it on facebook but I think they wanted like $150 for it. I have asked a few times over the year if they had found a battery, charger, etc to try and bring it up. Finally the other day she just messaged me back, $60 and come get it. OK, be there in a few.

The 5 acres we just closed on had been for sale since before we listed our house. The land was listed between $67-69K. Can't really remember. Once the house sold we started looking again and noticed it had gone off the market. I did my research and tracked the owner down in Alabama. I ended up getting the property for the same price as land down here that has no access, no electric, no water, etc. Took us a year from the time we saw it, to the time we bought it, but paid 10K less than our neighbor who bought his 2 years ago and prices have skyrocketed around here.

I'm always looking for a deal, and learned from Dave Ramsey everything is negotiable. They guy with the 4 wheeler for sale probably hates reading this....

You make your money when you buy it.

I don't think any of that is being cheap. Just smart with your money.

Being cheap is wasting a Saturday morning trying to fix something with a tiny flathead screwdriver because you're unwilling to spend the $3 at Harbor Freight for a properly sized one

My dad said his dad was so cheap, when the price of washers went up to .02 he started drilling holes in pennies and using them instead.

That's freaking awesome. I might start doing the same.

People say I invented copper wire trying to stretch a penny. I usually wind up spending a dollar to save a dime.

I've done that too. Trying to fix things by myself sometimes cost me more. But in the end, I know how to do it and will save money next time.
