Apartment for daughter in college - U of H

I am looking for Britt an apartment for the fall. Probably in the Friendswood or Clear Lake area.

Any of y'all have experience with a good, safe (and affordable) complex in that area?

I live in League City and am a UH grad. My son also went there and played football there in the Kevin Sumlin era.

There are great apartments out in the Friendswood/ Webster/ Clear Lake area. However, have you looked at the new housing on the UH campus? The new UH President Khator has revitalized the campus incredibly. Now over 10,000 students residing on campus in apartments and dorms. Many are brand new.

UH had a bad rap as an inner city campus with high crime when I went out there. Mostly haters from other SWC schools that took out their beatings in athletics by upstart UH by bad mouthing the school.

Not so today! Beautifully landscaped campus, new restaurants and recreational centers on campus, and officially no longer even considered a commuter school. UT has higher % of commuters than UH! Tier 1 academically and a gorgeous campus as well.

Statistically one of the state's lowest college campus crime rates. Lower than SMU!

Save the driving between southeast of Houston to campus as well. Might not be a fit for her for many reasons, but just in case thought I'd share above.

Has she been accepted? She should have a ton of info on housing. My daughter got all kind of stuff but did not choose U of H. Lots of new stuff on campus and in the area.

Thanks Paul. She started going this spring....driving down from Conroe. She is nervous about being on campus. May get more comfortable over the next month.

She's in a major without too many "girls." I'd like her to be on campus, and make some friends....but she's nearly 21 (transfer). Doesn't want the traditional dorm. We haven't looked into it too much....I did t know they had apartments on campus. We'll check into that.

Apartment on campus is the way to go. My son is a freshman and in a dorm right now.
He will definitely move to an apt his soph year.
The drive to school on 45 would get old fast.

My daughter transferred to UH from Tx. State in the fall. She loves it but we were determined to get her on campus. She is not one to go out of her way socially and needed that umph to get her to engage with other folks. She is in the new apt. complex called, Campus Vue. Look into it. Nice apartments.

Your daughter is going to college and you want to stick her in Friendswood or Clear Lake? I'm not saying she is going to party, but wouldn't you want her to enjoy somewhat of a college atmosphere and not be stuck out with a bunch of married folks in the burbs? I know that area of campus isn't great but there's gotta be somewhere better than the two places you mentioned.

I've got a couple of friends that have kids going to UH and stay on campus. Sounds like they've really stepped up the housing. I know some computers to Clear Lake too but they're still living at home. Lots of nice complexes in the Clear Lake area but if I were renting I would look closer to or on campus. That I45 commute is a killer.
