We'd best enjoy the rain while we can

I would like to hear some input from you more informed TBH weather watchers on this. I have been reading over the last few days that the El Nino weather pattern is starting to weaken. While it does not always happen, 11 of the last 15 El Nino events have been immediately followed by the flipside of that coin, La Nina. We won't know for a few more months if it is going to develop, but La Nina generally increases hurricane activity in the Atlantic/Gulf and promotes a dry, warmer than average winter in Texas. At least our lakes should be in good shape before things start going back the other direction.

Just heard a weather guy predict the la'nina affect to kick in late June-early July, the other guys are saying fall.

So what promotes a cold winter if it's not La Nina because El Nino was nothing but a wet warmer winter this past year.

Sure hope it is fall before it kicks in. My deer could use the extra few months of natural groceries. prefer a dry winter. Makes my deer easier to pattern and kill

"La NiƱa often means wetter winters in the Pacific Northwest and Ohio Valley and drier in the south, especially Florida, Halpert said. It often means fewer East Coast snowstorms, but a bit colder weather, especially in the Northern Plains, with the Northeast more a wild card, he said."

El NiƱo, La NiƱa and a neutral condition, neither warm nor cool, together make up what's called the El NiƱo Southern Oscillation. But don't expect neutral for long. Halpert said computer models are unanimous that the world will zip past neutral and directly into the cooler La NiƱa.

I had heard it was going to be a cool than normal summer in Texas this year.

Predicting summer weather makes me think one thing: if meteorologists and/or others who study weather can't even predict with certainty the summer conditions, how is it our gubment can predict GLOBAL climate changes 1-5-30 years away?!?

I will never complain about rain again. It can rain as much as it wants when it wants. Those droughts are no bueno

The sun will rise and set tomorrow and the coming days following. That's about all you can accurately forecast.

And it will be another hot hot hot summer beginning in mid-late April and lasting until early-mid November. And little if any rain will fall during that time. It's just the way it is in our great state of Texas.

Weathermen don't know what it's doing tomorrow much less a month from now.

Well not living in Texas for one thing!

Truthfully this El NiƱo has been so screwy- who knows what it's going to do when it falls apart. The weakening actually began in dec/Jan.

I'll give thanks for rain for as long as it will fall, and when it stops raining, I'll pray for more....

Droughts seem to start with flooding and end in flooding, so if this **** floater pans out this weekend, I wouldn't be shocked if it doesent rain again until next april
