Interesting test. Thanks for conducting it.

Just picked up one of the Ozark Trail coolers based on this thread. I had an order for an RTIC on the books but canceled it.

I thought of this same thing on the way home yesterday after making my post. Would probably make a great replacement if it is a pliable as a normal webbed strap.

bearintex mentioned the RTIC Brand above, would have been a complete test if you could have procured one of them as well for a 4 way side by side.

I honestly don't need another cooler, I don't use my 5 day Igloo as it is(which holds ice rather well actually for a normal cooler), but I can't help but be compelled to go by the dreaded "blue store of death" to find one of these.

The RTIC would have been nice but I didn't know anyone who had one on hand.... They have all been on back order for the last 8 months or so.

Go to the walmart website and search the store inventory there. Plug in your zip and pick your preferred store. Likely out of stock but a nearby store will have one. My local store (Angleton) didn't have any, but Lake Jackson had one. I purchased online, then picked it up later that evening while we were in Lake Jackson on other business.

Looks like none of the Walmarts around work or home have them. Oh well. I can wait. Looks like they do have the tumblers though. If I get bored and brave enough to venture in there I will pick one up. Can't order the cooler for in store pick up since they are out of stock. Booo.

Dang, Brute kinda got its *** kicked..

I have an older Brute and I just accepted average performance until a fishing trip and a friend took his Pelican and it confirmed my cooler didn't work like other high end coolers.

I emailed Brute and they sent a new seal for free.
Here are the two seals, the new one seals and performs a little better.

Not making excuses, just maybe an explanation as to why.
When they make a padded top for that Walmart cooler, pretty sure I know what I'm buying.

                      My OT stable

I have almost all of the OT "high performance" products, just missing the 26-Quart cooler that I can't seem to find online as it has been out of stock for 3 weeks. But I will purchase this one too. I finally found the 30 oz tumblers and I also have the 20 oz tumbler, the koozie, (I bought multiple of each for the trailer and home), the 52 quart and 73 quart coolers.

I did a test this weekend when I got my 52 quart and 73 quart coolers. I put ice in them at 2pm on Thursday, with no prechilling, and left them outside. They have been in the sun, rain, and shade. Temps have not been late July thru August type Texas temps, but warm enough to have killed a regular cooler. I checked last night and still have ice in both that is covering my beer. I also did a side by side test with my OT 30 oz tumbler and my Yeti 30 tumbler and they were neck in neck the entire way.

I got everything for less than the price of a Yeti Tundra 75. Well worth it and I might just pick up some more tumblers as they come available online as spares. Really happy with these products and glad I waited.

I got some of the "members mark" 30 oz tumblers from Sam's online site. They should arrive in the mail today. They have the slide lids, do the 30 oz OT tumblers have the slide lids or are they the standard lids?

Looks like we are seeing the beginning of the end for Yeti's and other expensive coolers.

Anybody know the dimensions for these things? I'd like to get one for my surf hitch basket and two for the boat rack but they need to have a good fit.

We started out with Yeti vs Ozark Trail vs Brute Box / Bison. 6 days to into the ice retention test we have a winner.

In 3rd place is the Brute Box / Bison. It had no ice at all on day 5. I took a tempurature reading on day 6 of 57 degrees.

In a surprising 2nd place finish was the Yeti 75. It had no ice today on day 6. The temperature reading on day 6 was 38 degrees.

And in even a more surprising 1st place finish was the $210.01 Ozark Trail cooler from Walmart. 6 days into the test the Ozark Trail cooler STILL has ice in it and is showing a tempurature reading of 33 degrees.

I'm going to check the Ozark Trail cooler again tomorrow and see how it looks and get another tempurature reading.

Now the test will be "the test of time". How will this cooler hold up to the wear and tear I will out it through and when or if they will come out with some replacement parts for it it does have a "5 year warranty" but who knows what that is going to cover and not cover.... we will see.
