Squeezing in a Hunt in Africa-Ethiopia

I'll be working in Ethiopia for 7-10 days and was thinking of taking a week of leave to try to set up a hunt or two . Leopards are only $5500!!!! The only drawback is you can't import them!

Does anyone have any hunting experience or future hunting endeavors in Ethiopia? Any reputable outfitters? Probably not doable but I'm going to give it a try.... I leave in late June.

I've hunted the Bale Mountains, in the rainforest for GFH, the area around Awash and In the Danakil.

I don't know if my operator is still in business. I hunted with Rocky Valley safaris. Mayo Oldiri is another reputable operator.

Mayo may only be Cameroon. I thought they had an Ethiopian operation.

Gerenuk and lesser Kudu would be high on my list. Ethiopia is one of the few places you can hunt them.

Beisa oryx, menelik's bushbuck, Salts Dik dik, mountain Nyala, hamadryas baboon, mountain Nyala and sommering's gazelle are all endemic to Ethiopia and can be hunted nowhere else.

Here's a link to my hunt in '09.

              Awesome trip Encinal!

My buddy and his business partner just came back from Cameroon last month. My Buddy cut his 21 day hunt short...Won't go back...very bad experience!

All trophy fees have to be prepurchased and paid. You can get a lot of similar plains game as tanzania. Check out the menelik bushbuck too. Theyre in the same mtns as the nyala but not as expensive.

I'm in Ethiopia but sadly I wasn't able to juggle work and play!
I sure wish I was going on a hunt for a Mt. Nyala but not gonna happen!

                      Joel,
May I ask where you are in Ethiopia? I may be going there soon for another project.

I work for ICE and we're doing multiple removal missions. I never really gave myself a chance to set up a hunt...just too much going on. I really can't elaborate much sorry. Pretty country!
