They are for grass, not brush. Shredders on tractors are for brush.

I have a 44 rough cut swisher and found the opposite of what others are saying. Doesn't cut fresh grass worth a poop, but cuts dried grass well and all new growth up to a year or two old mesquite, and other south TX brush. Found that pulling it with a four wheeler will allow tighter areas than a UTV. Finally did stretch out the belt last year, but I hadn't moved for 2 years, so was a little heavier. I think that are great to keep existing road and trails up, but to cut new ones may be pushing it. I was told, if it knocks it down, it will cut it. Some of the stuff I really was surprised it cut down. I just need a bigger 4 wheeler now to pull it.

Just pulled the trigger on the 44" rough cut Swisher and should take delivery next week. However, it will not be delivered to my house.
I am of the understanding that once delivered, there will be some assembly required. The folks we spoke with were not to knowledgeable as to what all that entails.
So, for you folks that have these, what sorta tools do I need to have with me to get it operational on the spot?

Just an update and review for those considering one. Got the 44 inch rough cut swisher in a couple of weeks ago. Put it all together, which was pretty simple. Shredded about 10 acres of grown up pasture land this last Saturday. It perfomed well. No brush, just weeds, grass and some sunflowers. So far I am pleased.

Bringing this back up to see what you think of the rough cut swisher? thinking about this for pulling behind my Kubota UTV. I'm not ready to bite the bullet on a tractor brush hog combo.
I'm most interested in cutting tall grass and mesquite saplings. seems like the offset ability would be great for getting around trees and up closer to fence lines.
Thanks for any input!

Mowing 5 foot tall weeds and brush on a pipeline it has not missed a beat.
