ATV Craigslist add and scam probably

I saw and add on Cragislist on the Lubbock list for this 4 wheeler. I sent a text to the number and got an answer that this guy was trying to sell this for his sister. I emailed this to her:

Just received a text from your brother that he listed a 4 wheeler on Craigslist that you wanted to sell. Is it still for sell and where is it located if you do not mind telling me.

    She answered with this reply:

    Hi,

My ATV is in perfect running condition, paid off, with no mechanical problems. The tires are in very good condition.

It has the following features: 2007 Kawasaki Brute Force 750i, automatic transmission,4x4, snow plow , 81 hours and 360 miles, camo paint one owner with full service history and all documents, two keys...no damage..clean title in hand. The price is 1500$ and i do not take trades.

If you are interested email me back and I will give you more info. Thanks

    Janet

    Here are some PICS bellow:

I emailed her back stating that if the ATV was as good as stated and I could look at it and drive it, then I would be very interested in buying it with cash. I had no idea where it was, but hoped it was close.

    Here is her latest reply:

Hi again, the atv is located in Aurora, Missouri because I am a newly divorcee.

I thought a new start would do me good, so I packed up and moved to my home town, with my job, and took the quad with me as part of a divorce settlement. I have clean title in hand and i`m ready to send you a copy if you are interested to see one. comes with a snowplow and winch.....I decided to sell using e Bay Buyer Protection program because i have over 500 positive feedback and gives both protection.

Here is a my eBay username profile: http://www.ebay.com/usr/miller3

Shipping and handling is free so there won't be any additional shipping costs. In addition, you will have 7 days to try out prior to making any purchase and if by any reason you find something you don't like about it you can send it back at my expense.

So, this is not a blind transaction, you can physically see the quad before committing to buy and to eliminate any concerns.

If you are ready to buy it and you have the cash available, please email me your Full Name ,Zip Code and PhoneNumber so I can list the quad on e Bay and you can buy it using the "BUY IT NOW" option.

    Thank you Janet

Sounds like a scam, does it to you?

          Yes it does.

I would tell her you plan to drive up there and test drive it and bring it home. See what she says then.

My buddy got scammed same deal with supposedly real invoices and real titles Needless to say it was enough money to get the Texas Rangers involved and the guy is in prison today.

          Be careful.

These scams are prevalent on CL. Been looking for a new travel trailer to put at the lease for awhile. It's getting ridiculous.

If a deal sounds to good to be true it normally is. If they don't post a local phone number I don't even give them a second look.

When you really get to looking at the adds on CL, there are a bunch listed out of the 512 and 972 area codes, all with the same types of adds, writing pics and all the prices are like $1500 or $1521!

Same exact story I got when looking at a car on craigslist. Exact story. She was selling a 2015 "new car" Ended up being a salvage or rebuilt title.

                      I walked away fast.

Tell her you just happen to have a friend right there in her town and he will drop by this evening to pick it up. Of course....being a recent divorcee and all...she wont give the address.

There are a lot of scams out there on Craigslist and you've gotta weed through them all to find the gems, and there are a few out there.

One search engine I used was searchtempest.com and I had some good luck with finding a used boat that I wanted. I used it 3x a day seaching by name and proximity and somehow it weeded out a lot of the scam/spam. It searches both Craigslist and Ebay simultaneously.
