I had 5/8" plywood put behind my drywall in my "trophy room" and areas reinforced with some 2x12s turned flat in places for very large animals
Did the same thing when I converted my back patio to my trophy room. A 6x6 bugling elk and a wall pedestal Blue Wildebeest hang in my trophy room along with many other mounts. The elk and Blue Wildebeest aren't light by any means!
I have all my wall mounts (and lots of other stuff in the house) hanging by these. Never had an issue before.
Just google monkey hooks. I think I bought all mine from Lowe's.
Those do work well, and hold quite a bit of weight.
You'd just have to drill a pilot hole. I don't think Burnadell is even strong enough to punch those through the paneling!
2 toggle bolts per mount, and if you put a fender washer on the wall before you tighten it, it will spread the force of a wider area so not to worry. I try to get the toggles at 12 and 6 o'clock but never know if it works, or if it really matters.

No matter how accurate you measure, the weight isn't evenly distributed on those two toggle bolts. One will be holding the weight, and the other is just keeping is straight; assuming that you're using a good hanger on the back of the mount and not just drilling a hole in the backboard.
Have you ever moved one of your mounts? What'd you do with those two big honkin' holes?
I've hung ELK with ONE high tensile deck screw; very similar to a drywall screw. The room had plywood behind the sheetrock, but it could have just as easily been in a stud.
Unless it's a GINORMOUS mount, it really doesn't take a lot of screw/bolt to hang it.
I use these. Home Depot or Lowe's. My Taxi turned me onto them. They work great and self tap. No stud needed.
I use the same thing as this guy, only mine are plastic, and rated for 50#, I think??? Anyway, I get them at Home Depot. I have a couple large critters (waterbuck and red hartebeest) and a whole bunch of deer sized critters hanging on my sheetrock wall with these.
