It was pretty much a life saver in the desert with very few roads and most of those not marked. It bailed us out more than once. I liked it so much that I went to Cabelas yesterday and bought my own.

Do any of you use them and if so, what brand?

Wouldn't go in the field without it now. It works great in unfamiliar places, but I like using them just as much on places where I know the land. I just find it fun to see what you've done and where you've been for the day. Always surprises me how much walking I've done at the end of a day.

They also work great as a locator on maps like "Goggle Earth". When I first set up my feeder at your place I set a waypoint on that spot and went home. Fired up GE and punched in the coordinates and I'm there!! No huntin up and down 380 trying to find the lease...

I have a old Garmin, 6 or 7 years old. Works great but unfortuneately I haven't been anywhere to put it to use. It's hard to get lost on the lease since we've been there so long.

This christmas I bought the wife a Magellan Roadmate for her car. Best thing I ever got her. She uses it to drive everywhere. No more calls from her about directions. Highly recommended!! She wants me to take it to the deer lease so she'll be able to drive out. Not sure if that is a good thing or bad??

Garmin 60 csx. Great handheld and will do everything you could ask of a GPS

I use the Magellan SporTrak Pro when I go Elk hunting.

                          I'm "gellan" with my Magellan!

Magellan SportTrac. I've been lost in the big woods for a couple of days before when I was in my early teens (about 40 years ago!)and it turned out to NOT be a fun experience. I still have so much fun in the woods just looking around and I still get 'misplaced' but not since I bought my gps!
