Brush Hogging Question in Brazos County

Does anybody here in Brazos county know someone that can either lease me a tractor with a brush hog or do some brush hogging for me? What should I expect to pay for a guy to come in and shred yaupon on several acres or price per hour? I think a lump some would be better than per hour. What do yall think. Thanks in advance

Going be hard to price without seeing it. Mowing pasture you can get hourly rates or a price per acre but yaupon is a whole different ball game

Its on a buddys place. I told him Id submit it to the greenscreen brain trust and see what yall come up with. Ive seen a friend brush hog yaupon up in Buffalo. Obviously it cant be too large in diameter and still be brush hogged correct? He says it pretty thick. Might take a small dozer then?

I can shred a field here locally for an hourly rate, but for clearing yaupon, I'm bringing a couple guys and some chainsaws.

I was sitting in my recliner before I came back to TBH thinking the same thing. A chain saw would be a lot cheaper but a lot more work. So Grant you wouldn't attempt to brush hog it at all?

              There are 2 issues.
              1. Most bush hogs are mowers that can take limited brush work but not extended.

2 the stobs left when mowed will poke through and ruin tractor tires.

I would suggest hydro mulch or a small dozer

                ^^^^ bboswell is right.

A bush hog will bogg down with continued brush and leave stobs behind. For bigger yaupon, a mulcher or dozer is the way to go unless out of budget. If cut by hand, once yaupon is cut I would pile and burn on top of area where it was cut or if to close to bigger trees you're trying to save, spray stobs with diesel/remedy mix to prevent re-growth.

                Just my $.02
