    I need some help

So I'm new to archery, and most people that I know have told me to bend my left arm just a little bit while drawn. But my local bow shop is telling me to lock out my arm let my hand loose and twist your arm a little ( kind of hard to explain I guess) and my bow string popped my arm this way. So my questions are.... Is there a wrong way? And what do most of y'all do? Thanks for the advice in advanced,

    Drew

By rotating your elbow out a little it will cause a slight bend in your arm allowing the string to clear just fine.

    Thats how I shoot.

The wrong way is the way the bow shop instructed, hence the string busting your arm.

Bend in elbow is best for me.

If you lock your arm. Your bones are in line. Less fatigue. But your hand needs to be at a 45 degree. By doing this. Your arm will be rotated out. So if you hit your after that, your draw is to long or your torqueing. The crap out of bow.

        Look this up. And read

Start with your stance. If you have a closed stance that could cause the arm slap..A slightly open stance is best. Look at the stance and then the arm/hand position in that order.

A bent elbow is never consistent, no matter how awesome you are. Bending your elbow to compensate for a less than stellar grip is not advisable. Your front hand should not grip the bow, just support it.

I second the Nuts & Bolts guide. It is a free download, and a ton of great information on form as well as bow mechanics

Hold your bow arm in position then bend it at the elbow. If your arm position is correct, your hand should come back towards your chest, not straight up.

This means rotating away from the bow?

I was told to be in a closed position so I'll have to try it and see if it works. Thanks for all of the input guys

That is a good pic for draw.

You are going to be told several different ways. Try them and see what fits you. Close or wide stances aren't as critical. DO NOT BEND YOUR ARM. just rotate your hand to proper position.

Look things up and read. Just try not to get in a bad habit or form.
