    BOTH ball joints went out.....

    2015 GMC HD Denali 2500.....

I do not know or remember the brand of lift kit, but both my upper ball joints (driver and passenger) went out within days of each other....

Peeled up like a tuna can....and at only 65K miles.

Anyone else have this same issue or know of this issue with any certain brands???

It is being fixed under warranty, but still.....

    NEVER ABUSED AT ALL!

AND ALL HIGHWAY MILES AS I DID THESE MILES SINCE DECEMBER 19TH OF 2014 AND HAD A THREE WEEK SPELL NOT 1 MILE WAS PUT ON IT. And several lease trips where it stayed in camp for days before heading home.

is this lifted or oversized tires? Maybe too much off road?

4" lift with 31" Toyo's. I do go off road, but simply from highway to camp which is maybe 400 yards. And down a pretty smooth 3/4 mile dirt road to visit my dad.

Other than that, just highway bumps and the few speed bumps at my son's school.

No one I have talked to has seen this happen with both at the same time. And hardly ever with less than 100K miles.

No one has any idea why.

If I had been off-roading or doing something stupid, I would just assume par for the course, but I haven't. For the most part, the only time it has been in 4 wheel drive has been wet boat ramps pulling heavy boats or highway to camp when muddy to keep from tearing up the road.

        No idea.

Tell us what type of lift it is. I've got a good idea what type, but want to confirm my suspicions.

Will have to pull the paperwork. It was done aftermarket, but through the dealer so that the warranty would still be covered. It was done at some shop in south Houston. I think inside the loop, if not, then for sure inside the belt. They do tons of trucks per year.

I am not knocking the shop, was happy with them and the dealer.

I am going to go with it most likely being defective metal and/or made in China. But definitely the manufacturer, and not the dealer or shop.

At least until or if I find the real cause.

Yea, I don't think it was installation. I'm thinking it's the type of lift. Were the lower control arms replaced or are they still stock?

Might just be the picture but I don't see any grease...

Who's warrantying the parts? I haven't known lift kits to come with ball joints so I assume it's GMC doing the repair but I am surprised they would warranty them considering the lift and tires. If you get to choose the replacements I would go with Moog, XRF, Napa Premium or another similar quality brand. Each of those companies make some of their parts overseas but Moog still makes most of the bigger truck joints here in the USA last I checked and offer a lifetime warranty.

really cannot answer this question. By no means am I mechanically inclined. Don't remember if they were there before or not.

I know I sound like an idiot. That's what I would be thinking if I was reading this.

Get some Moog greasables. I've never seen a failure that bad before, and definitely not that low mileage.

Nope. The grease fitting is on the top of the "cap" that peeled up. Grease was gone within a couple of days before I could get it to the dealer.

Not at all sounding like an idiot. Unless you've done extensive research or worked on lifted vehicles before you wouldn't know those type answers. See if you can find the paperwork and identify the lift or get a picture of what's installed when you can.

I thought I put a bunch of miles of a truck. You drive a bunch, and I have never saw ball joints do that.
