My boy had one about 2-1/2 feet he said (probably 18-20 inches) strike at him on the back porch just before this last little front. First one around the house that has been seen.

I have killed one copperhead on the property, seen 2 grass snakes, 1 regular hog nose, and 1 BRIGHT orange and black hognose. Was told the last one was a treasure for the herpetologist crowd. Did not mess with the non-poisonous variety, but went back to try and catch the bright one after taking my son (when he was little) back into the house but it was gone.

That's a good sized one. A buddy of mine got bit by a coral snake in Louisiana when he was a kid. He was holding it and it got him on the finger. He flung it off before it had a chance to chew on him very much but he got a mildly envenomated. He got lucky. There's no chewing involved if a rattlesnake gets you. As soon as those fangs sink in it's a done deal.

If it's venomous, it's dead at my house. Too many kids and dogs running around out here. If it's nonvenemous I'll leave it alone unless it strikes at me.

Nice Coral snake. I've caught two in my life time. Hope I have the opportunity to capture another.

Corals get a free pass. Don't see them much

No reason to kill them it's not like they'll bite you

I got a coral snake big and long enough to make narrow hat band. As for the rattlers, lots of good eating meat on those two.
