My wife has been wanting to do a cruise bad which I am dreading. But I could be talked into an Alaska trip. I have friends I've known since 5th grade who own a home in Anchorage Alaska and am sure will hook us up. What's the best deal or best Cruise line to choose from? I can also get in touch with them if any liners go into or by Anchorage. They've lived there for over 20 years. If anyone wants info, I'll find out and post at a later date.

Yes, do not pick out a guide using the excursion people from the boat, the price will be higher and the guide is hit or miss.

On our last Alaskan cruise, we made the three stops you mention. My wife had never fished in Alaska. While in Ketchikan, we took a charter in the Inside Passage. It was kind of boring to me as we were downrigging in deep water. We booked it through the cruise line. Nice trip but I do not enjoy trolling. My wife loved it though! She liked it so much, she wanted to go back on a fishing only trip. Took her to the Kenai and she really had fun catching the big silvers. I really like fishing the rivers much better than the deep water.

I'd find a guide where ever you decide. to me fishing was a bonus it was all about family time. Ketchican was cheaper then the other places. Definitely book from the internet the cruise marks up big time!
