Snake ID??

Well I'm usually good with snakes but this is a juvenile and I couldn't tell you what it is. It's about 10" long, friends son killed it in the flower bed. Location is Bullard out close to the lake dam. He said it had a diamond head but not a slanted eye. But he has lost the head already.
