Any Advice for going to the MotoGP race coming up at Circuit of the Americas?

I’ve been working a shutdown and haven’t had a day off (at my choosing) for the last 28 days.

Looks like this outage will wrap up barely in enough time to go to the MotoGP races at COTA come April 8-10th.

My thoughts are to drive up (3hr drive) on Friday after my son gets out of school and stay at a hotel somewhere within 30 minutes away.
Drive on over Saturday morning- watch the races all day then head home- 3hr away.
My wife wants to haul the travel trailer and stay at the Bastrop state park or the LCRA park where we’ve stayed before, but I’m thinking for a quick trip I need to leave that alone. They have campsites at the track, but the pricing seemed terrible for what you are getting.
(I could be persuaded to go that route though)

We could stay for the finale on Sunday, but not having a day off in a month has some loose ends needing tied up at home- and I have new toys that need played with.

So, for a first timer at this track- any recommended sitting areas, parking areas etc.?
Is a paddock pass highly recommended?

    Thanks for any help.

And BTW, if there are any other sportbike race fans out there, you have to see “Hitting the Apex”.

It’s an awesome documentary following six riders through a few seasons.
So good I need to watch it again.

    Love sport bikes. Miss mine.

Next bike for me is a Ducati Monster.

My only advice is to stay close enough to catch a cab or ride an event bus. I hate driving through that mess. 30 minutes can turn into 2 hours

Worst seats are main grandstands. You only see the straightaway. I would recommend going general admission and walking around. There are berms all over and you get to see multiple areas. Bleachers in turn 15 area is where you can see the most if going that route. The Grand Plaza is where they will have vendors. Have fun, by far the best racing that comes out there.

As in the drive out of this track in particular is crowded, or the drive out of any track is terrible?
I've been to a few and remember the bumper to bumper leaving process now that you mention it.
How can a cab or bus get in & out any easier?

So if we buy general admission seats we can roam around until we find a good vantage point and then watch from there- as in sitting on the turf?

          Otherwise turn 15, got it.

A lot of times the event bus has their own entry. They have a road in and out for them, so you don't have to fight traffic getting out of the parking lot.

I have never been to this one before but a lot of times there will be something along those lines to help keep traffic down. Good luck, hope y'all have a great time.

You can buzz over to the track from Buda very quickly if still deciding on where to stay the night.

You can always get a seat in the turn 15 bleachers and still walk around the plaza. If you check the map that gives you multiple turns and is good for kids.

Moto gp does not draw the crowds f1 does. Parking will will be a hike to the gate. But the wait won't be that long.

I've done both...generally admission as well as vip. Obviously vip is the way to go but we had a good time doing the general admission as well.

Paddock pass for Saturday will be tough to get close to the riders. Friday is much better for talking to them and autographs. They are all super cool. My wife pulled Lorenzo off his moped for a quick photo op. He didn't get upset other than he said he wasn't smiling so take another one. Lol. She ran under the barricade and pulled him off....I'll never forget it. We took a picture of rossi when he was 16 for him to sign. It was awesome to see him stare at a photo he probably hadn't remembered in 15 years.

If you like racing moto gp is a sure hit.
