They ought to just turn them all loose for next year. That roundup will go from the largest to non-existent if they don't. Nobody is going to sell their snakes for $1 a pound.

Rumor is there may be no more.

This will create a population explosion we don't need!

Dang that's not good. The roundup is a pretty important part of the town of Sweetwater as well. Hopefully it doesn't come to that but it very well could.

I agree ...step by step historical playbook on how to decimate a species.

My thing is they go back to the same dens to catch snakes every year and people pay to participate in the snake hunting aspect of it. So what would it hurt to release snakes into these areas as future income? Just killing them because they have some extra is bad for business. Or donate some snakes to the fair that had to cancel their roundup on account of the Sweetwater roundup. Now they're losing out on money.

This years catch proves that nothing has been done to hurt the population of this species...

Convincing landowners to let you hunt snakes can be easy, I want to watch you convince one to let you release on their place!

I was more or less meaning where the guided snake hunts take place. They stock those areas so people that pay to catch snakes will get their money's worth. A few extra in those dens wouldn't hurt. The town of Sweetwater really isn't much without the roundup. A lot of the towns that put them on really aren't known for anything but snake hunts so they definitely don't want to do that much damage to the rattlesnake population or they'd catch dens completely out instead of leaving little snakes and females in dens so they'll keep having snakes to catch.

I think we should round all up and ship them up to Sweet Water if their is going to be a shortage
