I used to love the cedar wax wing migration every spring when I was a kid. I would have plenty of BB's and have the red rider all polished up in preparation!

Yup having been all polished up from the wintering blackbirds, by then those waxwings didn't stand a chance... used to invade my mom's hedges and eat those little red berries on them... don't have a clue what kind of hedge it was, but those waxwings sure liked the berries... Times have changed now though and they tell me it's better now...I'm no so sure.

Benjamin Pump .177 used to be my weapon of choice. Only thing I have ever killed in the snow was a Cedar Waxwing on an 'ice day' when I was 12. I remember feeling bad for a little bit because it was so pretty, now I don't blast absolutely everything like I once did.

They eat the holly and red tip berries every February and March in our back yard.

You could pick off a few per flock if they were distracted or
                  apparently buzzed from the berries..
