    Shad came in....

Well the shad are starting to come in to the bulk heads on Livingston, we only caught 5 but one was a really nice flat head about 10 lbs and a 4 lb blue. Ended up with a good mess of fillets.

We would try to keep the shad alive and use them live. I liked to think it worked better in the power plant lakes around San Antonio. I know they didn't live long but normally would have a fish on by that time. Put em on a balloon line and let them drift out.

Water temp will drop a little this weekend. The run is really close though.

Threadfin, lucky! I always try to use them over gizzard shad when I can. Seem to like them better (all species)

No way. Pull the gizzard/guts out of a gizzard shad and put it on a hook. Blues absolutely cant resist it

And that temp drop is just what I need to slow it down a hair. I can't go till easter or aftet

Threadfins are more temperamental and not as hardy. I prefer gizz but sometimes stripers/ hybrids prefer yellowtails. For big stripers and blues cut the tail where it joins the body cast it out and leave lot of slack in the line. Those gizzards will live 30 minutes to an hour. In a boat double anchor
