Once in a lifetime event on Galveston Coast

Wish I could have been there to see it.

Get some surf rods and head to Galveston. Make it a 2nd and 3rd in a lifetime event. My buddy catches sharks off the beach all the time down there.

I used to ride my bike up to the seawall and wade a few hundred yards there as a kid.

I'm confused. What is so special about that shark?

Looks like a Bull. The Galveston surf is loaded with sharks, mainly black tips with bulls mixed in. I've been surf fishing down there since I was a kid....caught hundreds of em. It seems the bull sharks for some reason get right up on the shore this time of year. Me and the family used to spend Spring Break in G-Town when the boys were smaller during Spring Break. I would wake up early in the mornings and walk the beach. Numerous times I would see big bulls crash the wave line chasing mullet onto the sand! Crazy sight to see and only have seen them do this during March.

I was pushing 110% sarcasm on this one guys. This link was forwarded to me by a coworker who said she isn't going swimming at Galveston anymore after reading it. I have caught more sharks up and down the Galveston surf than I can care to remember. Some people are unintentionally oblivious to the world around them.

I've only eaten shark once but it was awesome. I don't understand catch and release.

It is a Sandbar Shark. Sandbars are in the surf now until early May.
