my hang up is rangers games as well. can you get Fox Sports southwest on any antenna? I live down around lake fork (south of Sulphur Springs about 10 miles). I would cut it in a heart beat if I knew I could get ranger games! the wife actually called about a month ago to see what it would cost to cancel our contract it was going to be $400!
Hulu and Netflix has almost every item a kid would watch. My 4 yr old never missed a beat. We are able to get the major networks out of dallas with an antenna. I still use ESPN now for the majority of football needs but miss all basketball and hockey games.
Yup I'm gonna go for it when I move next month. Will get all the broadcast networks over antenna, can still get TBS, ESPN, AMC (walking dead), and the history channel on slingtv for 20 bucks. Will supplement with Netflix, Amazon prime, and HBO now.
My sticking point was Rangers games, but will try out using MLB.tv with unlocator.
These services are the same ones I have.. Sling, netflix, prime and HBO Now. And again, like you, I'm trying to figure out a way to get the Rangers games in Tyler. I found a couple of directional "150 mile" antennas that I'm thinking about trying but almost all of the DFW stations have their towers at a park near DeSoto and that may just be too far for me.
I'm interested in the MLB.tv with unlocator though, what's that all about?

From what I understand with MLB, if you are in Tyler you should be good for locally broadcasted games. Nationally broadcasted will be blacked out. Unlocater is a service that you pay for that will make it look like your ip address is out of the country. Therefor you are not detected for the black out.
There are also some grey area ways to catch games. Not always reliable. I catch nearly all the Stars games on from youtube live in HD.
$20 for Sling + $15 for HBO Now + $8.25 for A. Prime ($99/12mos) + $8 for Netflix = right around $51.25 per month for TV. I was paying $180 for DirecTV.
The internet I have in Tyler is Suddenlink for $63/month. That gives me a "purchased" 200Mbps download speed & 20Mbps upload speed. I'm happy with the internet, too. I can recall what my actual tested speeds are but it's pretty fast, fast enough for me anyways.
Can you get the Sportsman's Channel or Outdoor Channel without cable/sat??

Carbon TV
This does not appear to provide you those channels, just shows that may appear on those channels. Unfortunately for me, the shows I really like to watch on those channels are NOT on Carbon TV. Would love to find a way to watch those "Channels" without cable/satellite.
Another thing I realized earlier, you can only get CarbonTV on a handful of devices. It is available (as of today, but amazon should have it later in 2016) on Roku, Xbox One and Samsung Smart TVs. You can also beam to your TV screen using Chromecast or Apple Air Play. Or just fire it up on your laptop and hook up a USB/HDMI directly to any TV.
I have the Amazon Fire Stick in one room and Apple TV in another. I prefer the Fire Stick. I just found out that if I want to watch Carbon TV, it will have to be through the "airplay" function on the Apple TV box, however. Well this had me in a quandary seeing as how all of my phones and tablets are Android based, which meant I couldn't actually use the airplay function from an android-to-apple device.
SO, I went and fired up my google machine to search the interwebs and found an app called "doubletwist". This app is a free music platform for your phone that will transfer iTunes media from a computer to an Android device and it also allows me to to use "airplay" from my Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to the Apple TV.
Pretty neat. This should help some of you fellars get your hunting show fix this off season.
I live were we got lousy hd reception and have a limited amount of streaming through huges net, so we switched back to Dish. Just had to bite the bullet. Now iam happy and the wifes happy.

I'm locked in to a deal w/TWC that is around $125 for internet, dvr, hd, and sports pass.
