Not even close to a reasonable amount of time to effectively keep water off I-10. You're talking about spending some serious money to build a "levee" for a 2-3 day event. Sometimes you have to let mother nature run its course and realize we can't control her.

This could be really bad for my line of work.

Hopefully it won't stay closed for long. Bad thing is, DOT will likely look at raising the road. With huge rain events becoming more common, it's bound to happen again. The White and Cache got over Interstate 40 up here a few years ago and it prompted a multi-year project to raise the roadbed. Huge headache.

Thats crazy to think you have to detour to I-20.

We "had" a load to deliver to Tony Chachere's today, it is on hold for now. He made the KFDM slideshow yesterday. (yellow truck with tank)

This should make my afternoon commute from Beaumont to Lumberton pleasant!

Does anyone know if 82 through Johnsons Bayou/Holly Beach is clear? In-laws were planning to head to the fish camp in Hackberry tomorrow and I am assuming I-10 will still be closed.

WOW, that's a LOT of water!!! And that I-20 detour, that ain't like takin' the beltway instead of loop 610 in Houston! If you're coming from Lafayette goin' to Houston, that's a 200+mile detour!! Good Grief!

There was water for miles on 10, could see it standing in the fields and roadside for 10-20 miles before the bridge on Sunday

My wife and some of her friends left yesterday evening from casino's headed back to corpus. Looks like they left just in time!

I'm sending a friend down 27 in sulphur through holly beach up 82.

I'm assuming it'll be fine jumping across the causway at sabine.
