    15 1/2" Crappie

Went to Canyon lake today up the river (along with everyone else it seemed, jet skiers 5 miles up the river flying by. What happened to boaters etiquette? It seems to be worse every year!). Back to fishing, I found a nice little area away from everyone and snagged 20 or so crappie, 15 were 9 3/4", only 5 keepers. This big girl was the biggest. Also snagged a big gar that liked my road runner. All fish were let go and not harmed.

I had an uncle that woulda been mad about anyone letting a gar go, he split them and cut medallions from the fillets, as good a eatin fish as any out there, I wish I knew how he cooked them, I've tried and it's pretty easy to get them a little to chewy.

Didn't have a scale to weigh it. But I think it was a little over 2 lbs, she was a fat one.

Nice catch! Those crappie would have gotten harmed had I caught them.
