New Ram 3500 SRW 4x4 with G56 - Custom Order?

Many internet searches all over the state have produced no trucks as described equipped with the G56. Must it be special ordered?

G56 is the standard tranny correct? If so I think they are now special order only

It is the manual gear box. I'm curious what the turn around time is on that option. I'm out of country and asking here so as not to waste a dealers time or be hounded after making contact.

Why would you want a manual? They are way down on power compared to the auto trans, especially the Aisin auto transmission.

        Auto 385HP/900TQ

        G56 350HP/660TQ

I wanted a manual but after reading repeats it seems like the auto was the right choice. Never saw a 2500 with a g56

            I got a 2015 2500 auto 6.7 4x4 and

I'm not 100% convinced on the G56. I like the idea of being in control of the gears when towing. I simply couldn't find one anywhere. I'd like to drive both before making a decision but if there isn't one to drive unless special ordered then my decision will be made for me.

The auto tows better. There is trans tuning you can have done and they have a manual mode on them.

I had one on a hot shot truck, 3500. Gave me tons of tranny problems.

Drive one before you order it felt more like a sports car than a tuck to me short throw and really tight pattern compared to my 2005 model with Nv6500 I went auto it just didn't feel right (my first automatic truck)

Same here. I look forward to when I tow. Light years better than my 1/2 ton gasser.

I wouldn't buy a G56 again. No complaints or major failures to report though. I put a clutch in it at 135000, appeared to have been replaced already, bought truck with 89000 on it. I'm at 192000 now and plan on doing another this summer. So for the analogy of a standard being cheaper on parts than an auto, I would say its probably about the same. I have no idea how well an auto would have worked in my situation.

The G56 can be found on some dealer lots if you look hard enough. However, I would opt for the auto just because its rated for 900lb/ft where as the manual has to have the engine detuned to only produce 650. Plus, like mentioned above, the auto has gear selector programming which lets you downshift it manually through all gears without worrying about burning it up.

I'm studying on the Aisin now. Those torque numbers are hard to ignore. I know the G56 truck can get there but not without removing the torque management and the warranty at the same time. Then clutch, then any other issues.....
