I got to go an see an Aircraft Carrier for the first time (U.S.S. George Washington), Although it was in port being serviced I still got to be on a real life, 4 acre piece of U.S sovereign territory!!! A once in a lifetime experience for this Army guy, I have to hand it to the Navy they have some big toys.

I've been on several carriers. I was involved I ship repair for about 25 years as a civilian contracting officer for the Navy. I've met with contractor onboard many different classes of ships.

They are impressive! I got to tour the Theodore Roosevelt a few years ago.

It was an experience I will remember for along time, the Watch Officer was gracious enough to give us a tour.

I was on Ike for several cruises in the Med and with last one being in the Med with a detour to the Red Sea and Persian Gulf for Desert Shield. Fun times!!

Did a west pac, pineapple cruise, trip around the horn and several shake downs on the USS Kitty Hawk. I also worked on several of the carriers when they were in port while stationed at Oceana.


They are really cool in port when you get to walk off them. After 59 days with no port, not so much.

Got to tour the Eisenhower as a child, wish I could do it again, I think I would enjoy it much more now
