I don't know how much trimming you are planning on doing but if it is just small jobs then get a battery operated one. I have a Kobalt brand one and it works great. Lasts about 1 n half hrs with intermittent use on small stuff. Oh and did I mention it was light weight?!

These things are not just good at cutting up high, they are great for cutting normal stuff too because you don't have to get in so close to use 'em. no bending over to cut firewood... like having a chain saw with a long handle... oh wait.... that's IS what it is...

I have a power pruner, Not a Stihl but a wonderful tool. It really makes problem trees and branches really easy work. Yes, the chain needs to be sharp and reservoir should have oil for chain. One of my coolest tools.

I have an echo, and the only negative is while your cutting your looking up. When you take a break and look down, your realize the work has not even begun. Helped my FIL a couple weeks ago, trimmed for about 30 minutes, hauled limbs for almost 2 hours. ha....
            Great tool though.

My echo was stolen last year and I picked up the stihl 131 and it is a beast. It's fun cutting limbs and then I cry when it is time to start dragging limbs.

I have the HT 101. It works great and I used it yesterday and feel today...

Like mentioned above, they are heavy, a little time behind it results in a long time of hauling limbs.

Nice piece of equipment to have.

Make sure you are upwind of the saw dust. LOL.
I had the stihl Kombi pole saw attachment and it is awesome.

For a long time I used a light weight electric one. I got it for like $39.00 It was a factory rebuild. Just put the small generator on the back of the cart. Worked great.

I got smart and bought a used Husky Pole trimmer. It is heavier and still works good.

I gather all the cut wood with grapple on the tractor.

Sorry, we couldn’t find that page

We bout the grapple a few years ago and paid for itself on our place in a few weeks. Then we bought the priefert limbinator. HOLY COW its handy i can run it all day on the tractor cut about 2-3 times as many limbs and not hardly break a sweat.

Me and my dad always took turns running the pole saw once one of us got tired we would swap But this thing has saved us alot of trouble. As me and him do all of the work on our place ourselves and dont hire anyone. Other than a buddy of mine that comes over and helps out for fun.

We figured we had it pay for in 2-3 wks if i had to pay someone to run a pole saw for 2-3 weeks.

We use to have to go around every few weeks and check and pick up limbs just to try to keep them out of the fields and trails. Now if its less than 20ft up its gone. I hate tree limbs.....

Thanks for all the input fellas - I really appreciate it. I'm going to pull the trigger on a 131. Looking forward to putting it to use.

Oh I know...used 'em many a time. Just need a new one. Definitely not something I carry around longer than I have to.
