    Any "bad" logging experiences?

Hoping to get some help folks...in January a neighbor had a logging company clear some land and asked if I wished to speak with him. I obliged and after agreeing on having some clearing done at the same time we agreed on a price. A contract was signed and they began the next day.

I was told that his "shearer" went down, which was confirmed the day before on my neighbors property. They took a load and a half (40-60 tons) of hardwood before pulling all his equipment off my property. He contacted me and stated that he didn't want to continue cutting till he had his shearer since he would not be able to do a proper job and that he would contact me when it was back up.

We are a month and a half in and his voicemail is "not accepting messages", I cant find any info on his logging company even with the best Google-fu artists. He has a Dickinson Tx cell number, Spring Tx address.

I really don't care if he comes back but owes us a check at least...

You guys have any advice? info to what I can do?

Certified letter with a copy of your contract threatening legal action to his home address. I don't know if the what he owes is worth going to court over but never hurts to rattle his chain a little.

Just spoke with my cousin who is a State Trooper in the area my property is in. He put me in touch with the right people.

Evidently is a Felony now, what these folks are doing (and is very common), so it is now in the hands of the Texas Forestry Service and local law enforcement along with State Police.

Prolly figured he could log a bit off yours, and then pull out. Doubt most people do much else but a couple phone calls and give up.

Im currently "hunting" him down as we speak. I know the state police will probably do this but I want all the info on him that I can.

I have his name, number, address (possibly fake as Im checking into it as we speak).

Turns out he did as much damage to my neighbors property ( and another neighbors property) in 3 days time as they did to mine. They are looking for him too.

This is exactly what the Forestry service stated, which from what he was saying is why they upped it to a felony in the State of Texas.

The logging company was "New Logging Company" out of Spring Tx. The individual that runs it is Norman Freeman.

address he gave me is owned by someone else. he is possibly renting it. Trying to file a open records act with Harris County Tax accessor in hopes of contacting the owner to get info on him.

                      yes sir, already on that.

State Police and Texas Forestry Service called and are wanting to collect evidence. Stated that he has 5 complaints against him in the past month.

I hope you find him before the police. Old school justice.

Sounds like if you could find out who he sells wood to they might have some current contact info on him. You might also be able to convince them that buying from him is not a particularly good idea right now. Best of luck to you in your search.

Ok so...my cousin is a State Trooper in the area he is logging in and is keeping an eye out.

State Police called and I have to deliver some info and evidence to them. Turns out this guy has 5 or 6 complaints against him in the past couple of weeks so Im guessing he hit the area pretty hard.

I did find out who was running the timber for him and moving his equipment. Also where the timber was taken to. I went by there the other day but no one was around. I go back on Friday and will hopefully find out more info.

The vehicles used for transportation of the timber or his personal vehicle shoukd have license plates.
