Tried to search online, but did not have much luck. What do yall think a reasonable price would be for a 2007 Weldcraft 16ft long with a 2001 40HP Yamaha would be? The boat is in decent shape, no leaks or dents, just the normal wear and tear. It has a side console but the power tilt and trim doesn't work. Motor starts right up and idles and runs fine. There are titles to both boat and motor but the trailer does not. It was a homemade trailer in 2005 and registered as homemade. It comes with 2 batteries, trolling motor and running lights which all work.

Personally I would say $3K. Depends on batteries, seats, and any extras it comes with really. Anything with a working motor is going for $2500. That's a newer boat and motor so I could see $3000-3500. If it has a trolling motor and fish finder, seats are in good shape, and batteries are decent $5K doesn't sound too off the mark.

$5500 is way overpriced for a jon boat since the tilt trim is bad. There may also be other issues such as bilge etc. These fixer uppers can be a hole in the water that you throw money into. I would not pay more than $2000 to $2200 for a 16 footer and still have to do work to it.Last edited by muzzlebrake; 03-03-2016, 06:47 AM.

Personally, I'd take it to a boat mechanic and see how much the tilt/trim will cost to fix, then deduct that from the asking price.
So is the motor stuck in the down position?
I'd be afraid the prop/skeg would drag if driven through a dip.
Plus, that's a lot of pressure on the transom every time you hit a bump driving down the road.

I bought a job boat that started up and idled great, that is until I put it in the water. Once it was under a load it wouldn't get up on plane. No matter what you do, get that boat to the water and run it, it will save you big money in the long run. That boat is probably worth $2500 with tilt/trim not working,$3500 if it doesn't have any issues.

Weldcraft tend to hold their value pretty good. If in good shape, I would say around $4,000 for the boat. $2000 for the motor. So he is probably within the range. If the tilt is not just an electrical problem, new motor around $80.00 or new unit $400.00. If you fix it yourself. In Texas smaller boat trailers don't have to have titles. Whoever registers the trailer owns it.
