My father and my grandfathers use to make pets out of them and take them to school in Louisiana when they were young.
They would tie a string around the foot and then put them in their shirt pocket!!!!

Flying squirrels are cool! Mom had a hollow tree by the house when I was growing up and every now and then one would go streaking across the yard at night. Not sure if she still has any around since the tree got cut

My cat killed one a couple nights ago. I hate to see that, I like having them, but if they were in my attic, all bets would be off ! Pretty little critters.

Had a bunch at my lake house back in the day... However I'd not tolerate them in my house/attic! They are cool critters for sure tho. Sure take a bunch of 'em to make a good pot of dumplins tho!

Are they the same thing as a sugar glider?

Kitty Kat got another flying squirrel today. Babysitter got to it before dogs and squemish of KKs play-with-my-food nature and found an adopter. I enjoy the stories of flying squirrel pets. Ill encourage my son to explore that realm of boyhood...I will live vicariously through his guided ventures.

                God bless...Squirrel!

I have them around my home. There are not as many as when I was a kid. I enjoy seeing them. They do make good pets if you get them as a baby. It's cool to see how far they jump/fly. Neat critter. I've tried watching them at night with a red light, but they were able to see it and shy away.

Nope, sugargliders are marsupials and from New Zealand or some place over there.
