I own one and love it! Cooks some really good food, and is pretty fool proof. There are a lot of people who make their own uds with mixed results. I got mine as a gift and have used the recipes from the site with success.

No need to spend that much money for one.

We had a guy using one at our Church Men's Retreat this weekend. He said its pretty fool proof and will hold temp well. He made it himself. I was not impressed with the result to be honest, very little bark and not a lot of smoke, but that was probably user error. They wrapped way too early in the process which would dictate those results. He said he loves absolutely loves it for what its worth.

Same here. Got the bigger size smokey mountain and love it. It holds a temp like no ones business. I have no problem putting a brisket on before work and leaving for the day and not having to worry about it sitting at the temp I left it at when I get home.
