Rotator Cuff Report - Not Good!

I just got back from my visit with the Orthopedic surgeon and his report was not a good one. Two muscles in my rotator cuff are torn and have retracted up in my shoulder, which prevents him from being able to reattach them. My options are do nothing and live with the pain, let him scope it and see if there are any fibers he can reattach, or a full reverse shoulder replacement. He wasn't optimistic about either of the surgeries but did say I can do some therapy to strengthen the muscles around it to help take up the slack on the torn muscle.
He didn't mention my 4th option, which I know is the best to go with. I will pray and ask God to pull the muscles back down and reattach them through His power and touch. I am asking my brothers and sisters to pray in agreement that His touch will do what the Dr. can't, that a miraculous healing will take place in my shoulder today.

Does your Ortho work with shoulders of athletes all the time? My thought has always been to go to the guy who has to get people back on the field.

I guess you have tried the therapy exercises etc?

When I had my done I virtually tore every muscle , ligament, tendon that was attached to my shoulder etc... The had to cut me open from top of my should to under my arm pit. Took like 8-9 hours to reattach everything . Have three screws still In me. Never hurt that bad

That is a tough diagnosis but you are right, all things are possible through Christ. Added to my prayers.

I have been in therapy for mine since May 2015. I had surgery in Sept. I am going back to the surgeon next week to see what type of surgery he can do next.

I had medium amount of pain and I could mostly use my arm before surgery. One tendon 90% torn off. Since surgery I have more pain and less motion. Before you have surgery, think if you can live with the pain you have now. No one wants to live with pain, but it could get worse as mine has.

                            I haven't shot a bow in a year and I am a bowhunter.

                            Good luck

I hate to hear that but dont give up just yet, you need a second opinion from one of the best shoulder guys in Houston. Is he just going off what the MRI is showing? Ive had many ortho surgeries (yes Im hard on my body) and nearly every time things were different once they got in there than what they were expecting from the MRI. Im assuming looking at your location that Houston would be an option for you. Three docs to consider are Tim Sitter with the Methodist group, Steve Flores with UT Physicians/Memorial Hermann (team doctor for the Texans, Rockets), or Bradley Edwards with the Fondren Group. Tim Sitter did my right shoulder. I had one torn muscle that shrunk and pulled way back because I waited many years to get it fixed. It is as good as gold since he fixed it in 2004. Flores did my left shoulder after a failed one from another doc whom I wont mentioned. He had a mess to fix and he got it done. Edwards seems to be really well respected and does a lot of shoulder replacements. Also dont worry where the doc is located. Once you have the surgery, you can rehab it pretty much anywhere. Give it some thought and I will be praying for you regardless. Should pain is terrible and I hope you can get your's resolved!
