Thanks BT. I'll look into the cost of that and compare to the .49 cent/ft #1 chains.

Basically 1/8" cable with a crimped loop on each end. Slip cable around something, thread one loop through the other and attach to trap chain with quick connect like pictured above.

Guess if your situation calls for chain then obviously use chain though
This, just make a loop big enough for the trap to go through, those quick links are less reliable than baling wire when a coon goes to dragging them through fence and brush.

Cable or chain, if you're buying a lot of it, you can get it cheaper from mail order places like F&T Trading Post than you can at Lowe's or Home Depot. That's price per foot plus shipping.

This is what we did as well. Takes about 15 seconds to set and bait a trap

28 pieces of firewood is not really mobil ...especially since we put them out and take them up Sunday morning each weekend.......

Definitely use Cinder Blocks, they stack much nicer

earth anchor/cable stakes (google it). Put it where the coon can't wrap around anything, and tangle up.
Just un-clip the trap and leave the cable in the ground. (or they pull out, too)

I made some of these. Or they make 'em commercially.
