I hate any public transportation because it lets the bums move in.
Because any government project is a huge (and that's an understatement) waste of money.
If it was not then private companies would want to do it. So it's a double money pit when even if private companies do it, it would lose money...but then since the government does it, who is way worse than any private company, they lose double or triple.

This is run by a private venture.....I am not a huge fan of it, however I do like the fact that many private investors have their neck on the line for its success.
In west Montgomery/Grimes county and on up the west side of 45 to Dallas this is a baaad subject. It will cut through farms and ranches and near homes. And if it goes through people will have no choice but to give up the land. If I'm not mistaken its a foreign company doing it.
One of the proposed routes will be less than 3/4 of a mile from our place in Grimes Co. Over the years we have dodged the trans texas corridor, high voltage transmission lines and now this. Between the proposed price of tickets, logistics of getting to and from the rail and the travel time none of it pencils out. Its cheaper to fly right now.

I don't believe it.... Seriously don't. Not unless the government is chipping in tons of money like they did with the toll roads. Then is it really "being run" by a private venture?
I wouldn't be surprised if it is put on hold at minimum. Southwest has cut a substantial amount of flights from Dallas to Houston and vise versa which I am assuming has to be OG related because a substantial amount of the people on these flights were in OG. I would have to assume this would effect there business model at least for the time being.

if you notice, the are for the most part following the already existing utility corridors for High Voltage power lines. The use of eminent domain by a private corporation is what sours me most on this whole thing, but it seems that they may have been able to get that right.
They are looking at 30 and 50year paybacks, based on increasing fuel prices and an ever increasing population. The numbers wont work out immediately, but they don't care about the first 3-5 years. People with deep pockets will take a short term hit for long term gain. There are some really big names investing in this thing. I am skeptical that it will work, but those with lots of money seem to think it will.
