    Monkey chow- Myth?

Does monkey chow really work on coons? I've always "heard" it does but after some reading-up I've seen a lot of people, including purina reps, say that there is nothing in the chow that could possibly hurt a coon. It's all an urban legend.
    So, TBH, does it work?!

As smart as coons are I wouldn't be surprised if they started the rumor and actually enjoy the treats

I have no idea but if the rep said it would not kill them I would guess he would be the one to know

You will have one coon eat the whole bag. Then s h i t monkey t u r d s. Been there fed that. Best way is to trap them out, that's what worked best for me

We tried it on 2 places

Both places our coons gained a average of 8-10 pounds eating that crap.....

Suckers were just rolling around like soccer balls......

Whoever started that rumor was an evil marketing genius...

I know someone who trapped a coon and fed it moment chow for months to test it.

It got a really shiny coat.

I used it and all the coons grew opposable thumbs and started requesting bananas.

Many a threads on here about Monkey Chow....including a video of a guy who lives off monkey chow for a week to prove it is does nothing.

My conclusion after reading countless threads on it is......its 100% a myth and there is nothing toxic to a coon in its ingredients.

Lol, I had friend that asked that same question..I laughed...hard..

Because the fella on the other side of me was a good friend also, a game warden...

Friend 1 got a stern warning from friend 2 on the illegal merits of poisoning animals..

End result is friend 1 would have be fine putting out monkey chow then.

I think they just stand by it. And swear.

I thought the whole "idea" behind the myth was that the raccoons ate so much of it at a time that once it swelled up in their bellies it actually ruptured them, thus a tortuous death.

When your dog gets into the whole bag of dog food, the vet will induce vomiting to prevent this from happening. Same idea.

Best bet is to trap or shoot them
