When my house has been sprayed, it seems to last about 2 years and then need to redo, while with brush and rollers, it will go 5-10 years pretty well. Spraying requires much thinner paint to go through the nozzle, so isn't even a question, it will use less paint. Also, it's much easier for painters, so when they give a quote, ask, or I just demand hand painting. Don't bring a sprayer on my property. They will half azz if they can.

        Good advice.

A sprayer is a tool just like a brush or a roller. All it does is get the paint from the bucket onto the substrate. Like any tool, it's only as good as the person using it. Life span of a coating is mainly depends on the quality of the coating and that it is installed correctly (applied at the correct film build). Get names from your local paint store, get at least 3 bids, and ask for references. If they are true painters, how they get it out of the bucket shouldn't be an issue.

I just bought this paint sprayer and a shield to paint the house inside and out. Didn't know that before. Maybe more coats will last longer.

I just had a 1650 sq ft house done about a month ago. Power washed, caulked, replace some rotted wood and painted eaves, soffit and chimney for 1750.

Wow! I bought my house in 1997, and it has never been painted since. it needs it now, but has not really looked like it needed it till recently.

Cooters exactly correct. You get what you pay for in paint, you buy cheap it only last a few years. We use only Benjamin Moore $55.00 Gallon lasted over 10 years. Thinner the paint the poorer of quality, always ask to spec the paint a contractor is using. You want paint like Pancake batter not like Milk.
Power wash, replace any rotten wood Caulk and spray brush trim

I could do it myself I am just being kinda lazy.

Just painted my rent house. I stopped by a subdivision and asked the Mexicans on the job if they wanted to make some side money. They showed up with the same color paint as the house they was building in the subdivision. I payed 700$ turn key. About 1600 sq ft. This was all new hardy so no prep was needed. Sherwin Williams paint which 6 months later seems to be a great product

Presure wash, and prep = 1 day 2 guys
                          1 day to spray
1/2 day to cut in or mask
                          40 ma hrs @ $25 = $1000
                          15 gallons Super paint =$600
                          Tape caulk etc= $100
                          10% profit tbh special

2 story, only the front was brick. Repairs, wood replaced caulk and paint including prep was $2100 for me in Austin. That was 5 years ago so not too long ago.

With a quality spray rig you do not need to thin the paint. Because of overspray spraying tends to use a bit more paint. Spraying is actually harder because way more prep work involved. Not all paint contractors do half as work.
