    Weather Gurus

Well it looks like we had winter for 1 day...I think. What does the future look like? Are we done with the cold? I know we are going to have cool downs still, like the front coming in this weekend but is winter done?
Sure doesn't seem like we got the "colder and wetter than normal" that they kept talking about due to the el nino.

Here in the hill country we have had overnight lows get pretty cold, but have not had the winter precip we were promised...... Wet Spring maybe??.... Rivers are starting to get low already.

Bugs look to be horrible this year. We need a good freeze.

        Last year we had a number of freezes . . . . I think this is simply a one year event. . . . .

They said that this El Niño was so strong it pushed the jet stream to far north. Usually in an El Niño year it's right on top of us. Still calling for a wet spring but I'm having my doubts.

I keep thinking there is still time for one of our famous north Texas ice storms - we've seen them as late as mid March - but the pattern looks very mild right now as far out as you can see. I don't think we have had but a small handful of overnight lows in the 20's all winter.

a week ago I would have said that we still have a shot, at least on the caprock. But even our pecan trees have tiny buds on them. That has usually been a fair sign that winter is done.

Having said that, there are still some atmospheric elements that look decent for bringing us some early spring/late winter weather as we near into March. And spring break is always a crapshoot!

Never even wore a jacket to work this year. In the shop, the guys never even turned on their heaters.
