Is there a market for used toilets?

Is there a market for used toilets? Reason i asked is cause i am replacing the toilets in my house and i put the old toilet by the street for the trash pickup and when i left for work this morning someone had taken it. I can only assume there must be somewhere you can take i and get some money for it, cause there isn't anyone i know that would take a used toilet off the street and put it in their home.

I have put dishwasher and old table and chairs by the curb and had people take them, but i would never dream someone would take a used toilet.

I could see taking it as a joke and putting it in someones front yard, but not to use.

You'd be suprised....lots of people that have rental properties will pick a lot of things up, it's free and when a leasee calls saying they have a toilet that needs to be replaced the landowner can run the free toilet over without having to go buy a new one.

I only know this because I have a neighbor that has told me about all of his finds....he doesn't typically put these things in his own home, but doesn't mind doing so in his rental properties. Besides, change out the seat on most toilets and it seems that you have a new throne to most people!

If you had an old 3.8 gallon flush there are many folks who would reuse. After all bleach kills everything

I get this, but there is usually a reason someone replacing a toilet, like it being cracked or something. In this case, the toilet worked fine it just was looking old so we replaced it before we put the house on the market.

I know I wouldn't want my old toilet, but I know what it's been through.

I guess it's easy to adopt a stray toilet without knowing where it's been.

You pick it up and think, "maybe this was in the spare bedroom, just sat there with water in it, maybe the occasional guest #1, but surely it's never been truly defiled"

With all the low-flush, water-saving garbage out there, some people just want a real **** sucker....

The isn't gloves thick enough to pick up someone's old crapper. If I was the trash man I'd drive past it and make the next crew pick it up.

I put two out by the road when we remodeled and they were picked up within 20 minutes! They put them in a hatch back car and drove off with the back up since the trunk wouldn't close!

we actually had a guy come by and buy all three of the toilets that we put on craigslist. I believe they were going to be used for a home remodel. He actually paid us $$$. We replaced them when we updated the house.

The toilet is 15 years old.

I'm pretty certain people don't pick up crap if it's not useable.....after all, my wife puts a lot of stuff out because she has upgraded something or replaced it! I'm sure he's saved a lot of money off of what we have thrown out.

To answer your question, is there a market? Probably not a market worth trying to sell on a regular basis. However, people will pick anything up these days!
