So I spent 65 Days in Norway from the second week in November to the third week in January. This was for some procedure qualification testing with work. They were nice enough to bring me home for eleven days over the holidays. Norway is a beautiful country but very expensive. People are friendly enough. They love to hunt and are one of the few countries across the pond that aren't completely pro gun control although owning a pistol is not the norm. I found it interesting that many Norwegians that I talked to were becoming anti immigrant after the influx of Syrians. I mentioned to several of them that they are starting to sound like Americans when it comes to illegal immigrants. I had been to this area of Norway once before in March of 2014. The weather was nice before Christmas with temperatures dipping below freezing a couple of times and a little snow. When I went back in January it was a different story. We got a lot of snow and stayed bellow freezing with the coldest being around 1°F. If I had the money I could be a winter Texan and spend my spring and summer in Norway. I've attached some pictures but the camera really doesn't do the views justice. Really beautiful country.

I work for a Norwegian company based in Stavanger. I hiked up to this place, Preikostolen on a trip once. I asked one of the locals why they have no safety rails on the edge. He replied that their are no lawsuits in Norway.
Another guy I work with took me to his dairy farm, and from there out in a little wooden boat to go fishing for mackerel.
You are right it is very very expensive place, but quite beautiful. I recall beer costing something like $13 USD about 5-6 years ago.

Nice pictures. I joked with the guys doing the work for us about winning a lawsuit being the new American dream. They also asked me if I carried when I was home and if I had ever shot anyone. My standard answer was "only people that needed killing". Some of them were curious about how our new open carry law would work.
The dollar has gained some strength when it comes to Norway but it's still expensive. I paid about $6 for a gas station hot dog. The same place had hamburgers for $10. Those prices are with no drink or fries.

Funny. When I toured the silver mines in Kongsberg I asked the same question and got that response. That place was a 99%ers dream come true. Almost as dangerous as it was back in the 1800's.
