Just wanted to brag on my 12 year old daughter and show off her first deer ever!!! She shot the buck at 55 yards with a 243. Dropped it in its tracks!!! I was impressed. She had a big ole case of buck fever but she pulled herself together and got it done. She said (before the shot) why am I shaking and breathing like this? Now she is hooked and ready for next year to try and get another deer.
I was lucky enough to have a lot of history with this buck. I passed on him earlier in the year at 16 yards in hopes my daughter could get him when she was able to go down to the lease. I saw him every time I hunted for almost a month. Then I was able to start bring my daughter down and he (the buck) just stopped showing up. My daughter wanted to try and get this buck and stuck with it. Then the second weekend she hunted he showed up again. She shot him about three minutes after he showed up.
My dad always told me......Being with your kids in the stand and then being able to watch your kids shoot something is way more fun than doing it yourself. Boy was he right. It was awesome!!!
