How far can a hog see?

I've been told only about 30 yards.I think farther..Here lately,i've patterned a large boar where i hunt.I know where he's beds down during the day,and where he's been coming out in the late evenings like clockwork for the last 2 weeks.
Fri afternoon,i was alittle late, getting to my blind,as i was slowly walking up to the area,in a open field.I was 50 yards from the treeline when he came out into the open,looked at me,made a blowing sound,stood there for a minute as i was frozen in my tracks downwind of him.He grunted again and then hauled azz back into the woods.I was in full camo also...
He seen me,i know he did.I felt him staring me down...it was freaky.
This was the 2nd encounter with the same boar.I've only been able to get within 40-50 yards of this dude.I hope to get 30 yrds from him 1 day,if i do,his picture will be posted on here!

We've got an actual vet opthomologist on here, hope he'll chime in. I recently read that hogs are thought to be able to see about as well as humans can - as far as being able to distinguish movement at distance. Saturday I was in full leafy camo, on the ground at the base of a big mesquite tree when a big boar came in upwind. At about 30 yards I started to draw - he saw the movement and took off like a scalded dog. He did not know what I was but he stood out there 50-60 yards away, clacking his chompers and woofing at me. I think they see better than most people realize...

They see just fine. Some of them just wear the glasses to look cool!

i definitely think they see farther than 30 yds. we have had them coming up the road in the middle of the night and see a black truck over 50yds away. it was not moving, they just saw it. sucks because i was on a stalk and could just make out the smaller ones in the lead through the brush but they took off before the big boys came into my shooting hole

I know they have excellent senses of smell,but really,hogs can see farther than we give them credit for....
