A Little bit of Our Ranch History

Yesterday, Buck Cole from the Texas General Land Office, spoke at Rotary. I sent him the Address of our ranch and a map. This morning he sent me a copy of the Original Land Grant issued in 1838. the first deeded owner was a gentleman by the name James Christian. James Christian served with the Texas Rangers in Company A. He was one of the first Texas Rangers , enlisting in late 1836. His payment for serving was land since the Newly formed Republic had no money. Pretty interesting stuff.

That's cool stuff there Brandon. I remember reading about James Christian in some of the books I have read on Texas Rangers.

I ordered a couple of books about the early history of the Rangers. Will be interesting to see what I find.
