not sure on 50lb but 325lbs in our free choice trough feeders takes 4 or 5 min I just take it easy so I don't bog it down because I fill feeders alone and the toggle switch on the head got ripped off by brush so we hard wired it on. it much better than bags or buckets. corn feeders take about the same amount of time.

This. The price saved by buying in bulk negates the cost of the delivery fee.

Blower delivery systems aren't necessarily dusty. A lot depends on the quality of your feed. Our dealer really stays on top of the quality that we have delivered. If it comes with too many fines he wants us to call him and he will make them take the load back. Sort of like the difference between clean corn and dirty dusty corn. Some places have good corn and some have dirty corn. Protein is the same way.

The delivery truck can also make a difference. I don't want my feed delivered by an auger truck. It grinds the feed as it is being put in the bin. The driver makes a difference. Trying to unload the truck too quickly increases the amount of finds in the feed. Fines attract moisture which leads to flow problems.

The cheapest feed isn't always the best. Get a good dealer who wants you to have a quality product and gives service after the sale. Good protein won't be full of dust.

I lied just timed blow rate. it takes 1 min 55 seconds to flow 325 lbs not 4 or 5 min

I have feed delivered bulk, 8 tons at a time and store it in two used 8 ton poultry silos.
The feed is gravity fed out of the silo into a bottom hopper type of wooden box that fits on the pallet forks of my tractor.

The feed is then gravity fed into the feeders which each holds app. 1,700# of protein (2,000# corn rated). Box fills one feeder, I have 5 and feed 8 tons per month. The box empties from the bottom with a slide gate, takes 24 seconds to empty the box into the feeder.

I did not want to have more maintenance with either a blower or auger trailer. Also, using gravity to transfer the feed helps reduce creating more fines in the feed.

I put this in the Game Management forum, but I will add it here also...

tanker truck delivery to 20 ton silos...

tractor hauls 7 ton modified creep feeder to silo, auger in feed/corn and haul back out. One man, 45 minutes. 4 trays are welded to bottom to aid in deer feeding.

Park creep feeder under top to keep it dry and not muddy around the feeder.

one man can fill four 7 ton feeders in less than half a day without breaking a sweat....

It's takes the better part of 2 days to fill feeders on us... And we do it about every 3 weeks.
