I'll risk it! Think of it like herd management...you can improve the overall herd by culling those that don't add value to the herd (as well as the other worthless critters that only want to compete for positive nutrition at the expense of those that can add value to the property), and the predators that are only looking to bring down the trophies. When the quality of the remaining herd improves, the value of the property improves correspondingly. Life is better for the herd, the customers, the property and typically the owner gets more personal enjoyment hanging out with the trophies than the culls.
I don't think with the increase in membership of TBH(nearly 75000!!), the ATC section will ever be the way it was in the old days with more "bowhunting" stuff. Too many differing thoughts. I really think the sub forums help keep things organized more than it hurts. I would look at it like if you did away with the ATC section, would everything, hunting wise, have its place. Campfire is assured to be a catch all, and with 75000 members, that is a lot to catch.
I've been around since the first days...maybe 1998 or 1999 (can't quite recall), and there have been tons of changes made throughout the years. Some for better and some for worse, but I know Michael makes changes for a reason that will benefit the site. I've made several new friends over the years, gone on multiple hunts, found leases, bought and sold in the classifieds, and none of that would be possible without Michael and Casey's vision long ago. They were successful in transitioning from a "bowhunting journal" to a website, so I'm sure any changes Michael makes are done for a reason and hopefully continue driving the most successful bowhunting site on the web.
Go to a Baseball Approach with Banning, 3 Strikes and Your Out. Third offense, you are done permanently.
I have been around forever and never been banned once, it can be done. It all comes down to how you as the "poster" want to contribute to the site. Positively or Negatively...
Still Love the Place, It is irreplaceable to my family.
I agree 100000%!
You have to know that when you post, it could turn in to an all day ordeal defending your position against websites "campers". I say that once a poster reaches Pope and Young, they only get 5 posts max per day, at that level we already know how they feel about EVERY topic, or at least how they will respond.

Sounds like a great idea, Jefe! I like all 4 changes. I'll echo someone earlier who suggested the addition of a forum for religious topics. I was always taught that politics and religion were not to be brought up at a dinner party (because they can both offend people of other persuasions) so, just like a separate politics forum, I think a religion forum would be appropriate. It's an important topic but (like politics) it's more appropriate for a forum that people go to with the specific intention of learning, sharing or preaching.
REALLY looking forward to #3! I remember the early years when there was hardly a cross word spoken on TBH. I miss those days. I know a bunch of guys that finally gave up on the GS just because of all the negativity and clique-ish-ness that has become part of the GS, from time to time.
