    Slops - it's what's for dinner

Made an experiment tonight that came out great. Anytime I do this I call it Slops so the family has low expectations to start of with. Usually ends in ordering pizza, but tonight we grilled pork chops as reinforcements in case things went horribly awry.

Cubed two butterflied pork chops. About 1lb. Browned the meat real quick in a sauce pan. Set meat aside.

Next took a bag of frozen steamer veggies (corn, carrots, peas, and beans) and dumped em in the pan with the little bit of leftover oil and browned meat bits. Note - frozen water plus hot oil can be exciting. Next time I'll cook the veggies in the microwave first.

So after the veggies settled down I added about 3 heaping tablespoons of roux from a jar. Mixed the veggies and roux together then added the meat back in and mixed all that together. Added 2 cups of water and mixed that in with the meat and veggies. Added thyme, oregano, and garlic powder to taste/smell/whatever.

Simmered the slops for about 20 mins while I made rice. Basically came out like a pot pie on rice instead of in a crust. **** good!

No pics because I wasn't sure it would be edible be worthy of a pic until I realized we wiped it out.

    Sounds OK to me!

We had venison chopped steak with brown gravy & carmelized onions, egg noodles, and carrots!

Both sound good compared to what I had (super bowl left overs)
