What works?

Getting ready to go on a day hunt and haven't made up my mind what my target animal is going to be but I will be able to choose between a ram, blackbuck, axis, or aoudad.

I can bring bait to use other than the corn that the guide will be putting out and was wondering what you guys thought would work good that might help and be something they can find fast?

Take the axis....much better eating than the rest.

Axis are less likely chance of killing Rams would be the easiest. I've never killed anything but whitetails so I'm little torn

I wouldn't worry about bringing something if they animals aren't used to it. I've seen a lot of animals act negatively around the different attractants they aren't used to, even alfalfa. Once they are used to it, it is a different story. But for a day hunt, I'd stick to the corn the guide puts out. If anything, bring an extra sack.

I'd bring an extra bag of corn or two, and I'd either want an axis or a mature aoudad for a mount.

First choice would be Alfalfa assuming no cattle are present. Second choice would be Roasted Soybean/Corn mix.

I concur with not adding anything new for a dayhunt. And with the suggestion to pop an axis if the opportunity presents itself. Some of the best red meat I've ever eaten, including some cuts of beef.

I agree with sticking with corn. I have also seen animals being spooked by a new feed they aren't used to. (Alfalfa in my case)

Since you said you'd only ever killed white tails, My choices in this order would be Axis, Blackbuck, Aoudad, and if they PAID ME, i'd shoot a goat for them...

This but I wouldn't be picky on which one I shoot. At most day leases, you better shoot the first one you have a chance at because you might not get another chance especially if it's a pay per hunt not pay per animal killed. As said above, don't put any new kind of bait out as it's more likely to scare off animals then attract them.

Does your target animal dictate which stand he puts you in? If you haven't killed any of those critters, I think Saltwater Slick put them in the same order I would.

No sir you can see all of them from any stand you just can't say I'm going after axis and then when a black buck walks in shoot it. Rams are pretty much a guaranteed kill if you chose to ram hunt. Axis of course would be the one I'd want to shoot the most but they're not as KILLABLE as the others. The way I'm hearing it from the guide and others on here who went with him if you rank them from most likely to least likely to kill it would be Ram, Aoudad, Black Buck, then Axis
